Tons of solid wastes are accumulating on coastlines around the world including Hong Kong, spoiling the beautiful coasts and the marine ecosystems. However current collection are mostly done by hand-picking, a labor-intensive, inefficient and difficult task, especially across complex and hard-to-reach coastal terrain including pebble beach, wetland and rocky shore, indicating unique challenges of this pressing issue locally and worldwide.
Our startup EcoWing uses AI-powered analytics and autonomous drone technology to transform coastal waste management. With real-time detection of waste using machine learning, our system consists of agile small drones with robotic claw to pick up the waste, and a coordinated larger drone that carries the collected and categorized waste, powered by clean energy. Such mobile system achieves full automation of the collection process, reaching areas where traditional cleanup is difficult or dangerous.
Beyond cleanup, our system generates valuable environmental data through continuous aerial mapping and analysis. This data helps governments, NGOs, and researchers understand pollution patterns, identify hotspots, and design targeted conservation strategies.
By combining automation with data-driven insights, we reduce operational costs, improve efficiency, and protect fragile marine ecosystems. Our mission is to create cleaner coastlines and set a new global standard for smart, scalable, and sustainable coastal management. We aim to collaborate with the government and its cleaning contractors, NGOs, recycling companies as well as fulfilling CSR of companies to contribute towards a sustainable world.
