🌍✨ Reflecting on an Incredible Eco-Tour to Amsterdam!
From August 24 to 30, 2025, we embarked on an unforgettable journey to explore sustainability and innovation in the heart of the Netherlands. Here’s a recap of our amazing itinerary and the brilliant minds we met along the way!
We kicked off our adventure with a warm welcome lunch at BAUT Oost, setting the tone for the exciting days ahead. Our first highlight was the visit to "Plastic Whales," where we learned about innovative solutions to combat plastic pollution in our oceans. This inspiring initiative combines art and technology to raise awareness about environmental issues, showcasing how creativity can drive sustainable change.
The following day was equally exciting as we explored the Startup Village and Amsterdam Science Park. A huge thank you to Pranav Tetali from Omnwind and Dimitri van Esch from Quantum Gateway Foundation for sharing their startup journeys. We also visited Schoonschip, where we gained insights into sustainable living and innovative architectural solutions that promote a circular economy.
Our time at Delft University featured an enlightening session with Professor Dr Ir H.J. Visscher on housing quality and process innovation. The pitching teams showcased their innovative ideas, receiving valuable feedback. Special thanks to Janina Nieper from Circular Pioneer and Guy Vincent from Amsterdam Circular for their insights during our networking lunch.
At the World Horti Centre, we discovered the future of urban farming before exploring the Floating Farm, where we learned about sustainable dairy practices from its founder. Our visit to BlueCity and the Circular Economy Hub was eye-opening, showcasing innovative solutions for a sustainable future.
We were inspired by Dr. Silke Hemming at Wageningen University (WUR), where StartLife supports agrifoodtech innovations. The startups we met, including InsectSense and DeCi Agritech, are paving the way for sustainable food systems.
